Here's what happened: my cousin was looking for her family's excellent oatmeal banana chocolate chip cookie recipe for serving during the holidays. My aunt made it, my other cousin made it and when cold rain poured and I saw a couple of ripe bananas on my counter, I looked up recipes. One claimed to be chewy crisp and not cakey and I was sold. Countering these voices, "bananas only belong in creme pies" and "you may like half the butter but your taste buds won't!" with a strong argument about chocolate dominating, I added Guittard bittersweet chocolate, ignored the refrigeration instructions and imagined taking these dreamy cookies all the way to some of my favorite tasters hours away from home. That was not meant to be because these cookies are bananas all the way with moments of chocolate.
And, really, this weather does not encourage traveling.
