Agnes, our backyard gopher, took one of the jalepeño plants into her burrow and left a little pile of sand. She does the weeding of the numerous mallow plants to balance out her activity. A friend described how his gopher managed to scoop out the insides of a squash without disturbing the land side view. So when I saw a small squash sitting next to the vine, the thought occurred that Agnes was responsible. It's insides are intact.
