Where Are You

One time during yoga class we were doing a counter balance to the plough, the fish. The fish involves laying on your arms, then bending your elbows to open up the chest.

After the fish we went into savasana, laying on our backs with our arm alongside like a corpse. I felt the sensation of my arms being elevated, as if they were rising up off the floor even though I relaxed. I murmured "I feel like I'm lying in a ditch." The instructor, walking nearby, and hearing my voice, said "What was that? I couldn't hear you." A fellow student said "That's because she's in a ditch."

I'm not sure the instructor ever understood, although we tried, but were discouraged since we entered shavasana.
