Last night, after a child handed me her packet of almond butter to hold while she navigated tricky footing, my hand smelled of almonds. This morning, after greasing a cookie sheet with sesame oil, my hands smell of sesame. Aren't nuts wonderful? I soaked a package of almonds and they sprouted and shed their skins, which doesn't always happen. Now they're roasting in a low temperature oven. Nuts taste sour to my friend, but to me they taste exotic and sustaining.
